Advances in Arachis through Genomics & Biotechnology: An International Strategic Planning Workshop Atlanta, Georgia, USA | October 24-26, 2007
Keynote and plenary presentations addressed recent advances in Legume Crop Genomics and potential applications for Peanut Genomics. Working groups then developed strategies for advancing the science and for achieving specific objectives that are relevant to the needs of industry and consumers. The intent was to build a framework for the integration of research in crop production, product quality, disease & pest management, genetics & germplasm enhancement, genomics & biotechnology to facilitate timely solutions to major stakeholder and customer concerns. The workshop employed an interactive process to produce an "International Strategic Plan for Peanut Research." This plan will define relevant goals and objectives for what needs to be done, establish research priorities for what will be done by international workgroups, and set timelines for delivery of products and technologies that will help remedy acute problems and concerns of the entire peanut industry.
